Clothing Items Inspired by the Mean Girls Film

I really enjoyed creating some fashion looks for The Selection by Kiera Cass book cover (here) so thought I would continue with this style of post but for the film Mean Girls. The fashion in this film is all pink, and girly and it didn’t take me too long to find some more style inspiration on Pinterest.

For those not familiar with the Mean Girls film, here is the blurb:

'Cady Heron is a cultural blank slate when she first sets foot on the grounds of North Shore High School in a small town outside of Chicago, Illinois. After living in Africa, Cady has no idea how "wild" things can be in civilization until she crosses paths with one of the meanest species of all, the "Queen Bee," who at this school is the cool and calculating Regina George.

But Cady doesn't just cross paths with this Queen Bee--she really stings her when she falls for Regina's ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels. Now Regina is set to sting back by pretending to still like Aaron so he won't go out with Cady, all the while pretending to be her friend. With no choice but to use the same M.O. to stay in the game, the "Girl World" one-upmanship escalates until the entire school gets dragged into a first-class mean-fest.'

If you want to look up some style from this film on Pinterest here are some key words:
Pink, girly, Mean Girls fashion, pink dress, pink polo neck, pink plaid, pink skirt, etc.

^ Here is some fashion snippets from the film. ^

Below is some of my own interpretation of the clothing style:

Clothing Items Inspired by The Selection Series

The Selection series by Kiera Cass was quite popular in the online book community when it came out and I’m in the middle of rereading it.

Because the book covers are absolutely gorgeous, I thought it would be fun to try and do a Pinterest lookbook of things you could wear with inspiration from those fabulous ball gowns. The first book cover in the series is probably my favourite. I love the ruffles on the dress, as well as the colours.

For those not familiar with The Selection, here is the blurb:

‘Reality TV meets dystopian fairy tale'

'Thirty-five beautiful girls. Thirty-five beautiful rivals…
It’s the chance of a lifetime and 17-year-old America Singer should feel lucky. She has been chosen for The Selection, a reality TV lottery in which the special few compete for gorgeous Prince Maxon’s love.

Swept up in a world of elaborate gowns, glittering jewels and decadent feasts, America is living a new and glamorous life. And the prince takes a special interest in her, much to the outrage of the others.

Rivalry within The Selection is fierce and not all of the girls are prepared to play by the rules. But what they don’t know is that America has a secret – one which could throw the whole competition… and change her life forever’

When looking on Pinterest, I mostly searched for things like ruffles, princess, ball gown, The Selection inspired, etc. I chose a mixture of formal and more casual looks while keeping to the colour palette from the first book cover.

I found this blog post really fun to create, I hope you liked it!
