Pri Mark Lipsticks (berry and pink) £1 each

I have to give my hats off to Primark, for £1 per lipstick I was not expecting much but these lipsticks are wonderful.

I’m not a big lipstick person but have recently been loving matt lipsticks and these ones I bought were lovely shades in a matt formula.

I first picked up the lighter pink shade, as this colour has been quite a popular colour in magazines etc. When applying it to my lips it was lovely and also quite bright. It’s quite a statement colour.

I picked up the berry colour, it seemed quite dark but I thought I would give it a go. It looks a lot darker on the stick, whereas on the lips it’s slightly more of a sheer berry.

Both lipsticks you can build up and add more to make it look pigmented which I love. I tend to apply two coats and then blot with a piece of tissue.

I think Primark has only two colours of lipstick, to my knowledge, or at least that’s what was left. If you want to pick some up, they should be found by the till, with all the other beauty bits.

Danby Health Shop – Review of products available

The Danby health shop is based in the North York Moors, England. I go there once a year on holiday to a cottage nearby. The shop keepers who work there are really lovely, always happy to help and have time to chat.

The shop stocks mainly food goods. We order a fantastic fruit and veg box from them. They also stock a very large range of different kinds of chocolate.

I thought I would do a review of their beauty and bath products available. They have just recently started stocking Lavera products, which are aimed to suit people with sensitive skin.

A lot of the products are quite specialised, which is great it you are looking for something really specific. They offer shampoos for a range of hair types and the same with skin care products etc.

The only thing I would say is I would love for them to stock a few more general beauty products. I do not really have specific skin or hair requirements but love to pamper.

They often have free samples and little bits to buy if you’re looking for gifts. They products are very luxurious, and also at full size cost a little more. I enjoyed visiting the shop and treated myself to a few bits as I was on my holiday.

Lavera lipstick peach (amber 02) £11.90

Lavera isn’t a brand I’ve heard a lot about in the beauty community. Despite this I think the brand is worthy of praise because they produce a range of products for all skin types including very sensitive.

But the finish of this lipstick was more silky and appealed less to me. Some more fashion forward make-up brands like Topshop, Barry M, Gosh etc are producing more matt lipsticks because they are becoming more in trend. I tend to prefer that look much more.

I presume maybe the colour palette is aimed at slightly older women. But they did have some lovely classic shades and a few more contemporary.

In addition I would not say the packaging is trendy or eye-catching. It’s kind of plain. I suppose you are mainly paying for natural ingredients and the quality of product. If you have sensitive skin, Lavera would be well worth looking into.

I do not really have problem skin therefore feel the benefits from using Lavera products are not worth the money. But the lipstick was quite moisturising and gave a polished look to the lips.

I was unhappy with the colour. I was going for a 80s look with an orange shade but did not feel confident enough to pull it off. If you have bought a lipstick shade which is maybe quite bright or slightly uncomplimentary to your skin tone I would suggest first applying a good lip balm then apply a smaller amount of the lipstick. Blot with tissue for a dewy sheer look. Also as an option, apply a clear or nude lip gloss over the top.

Faith in Nature rejuvenating facial Wash - £5.99

This item was bought in Danby, North York Moors health shop and also featured in my Danby holiday haul blog post. Faith in Nature products can be bought online and from other health/drugstore shops in England too. Click here for a link to buy this product on the Faith in Nature website.

This product I have repurchased a couple of times now. It is definitely one of my go to skin care product which I look forward to buying when I come back to Danby.

I really Trust the brand and seem to include calming ingredients which do not aggravate the skin. It leaves the skin feeling not too dry or oily but just the right amount.

It is a gentle product which I feel comfortable using day to day. My skin feels soft and refreshed after each use. The scent isn’t overpowering but smells fresh and pretty.

The packaging is lovely and the dispenser is sturdy and easy to use. The 150ml bottle lasts me ages also. At £5.99 I think it’s fairly good value because of the quality you receive.

InStyle June 2012 freebie – Nails inc nail polish (£3.80 for the magazine)

In the June edition of InStyle magazine there was an offer featuring a free nails inc nail polish. I apologise for leaving this blog post too late for people to see this review and by a copy of the June magazine.

Three colours were available to collect, including pink, nude and the lilac one which I choose. The colours available from InStyle magazine are quite adaptable and go with a range of outfit colours.

I was highly impressed with the quality of the product. The consistency was extremely good, making applying with the wand effortless. The colour came out really well on the nails and only one coat was needed.

I love experimenting with new nail polish colours, and this lilac nails inc was a lovely change from the nudes I normally reach to.

I actually wore this nail polish on my birthday, with a pair of blue polka dot trousers. I recommend buying nails inc polishes at full price as was delighted with the results of the freebie.

Lavera natural concealer (light) £10.90

Lavera is supposed to be an excellent brand, particularly for sensitive skin. My skin isn’t really that sensitive but I like the idea of all natural ingredients and thought I would try out this brand of cosmetics.

I got the product in light, it’s an ok colour match, my skin is quite pale but I think the colour will be ok for the summer months.

The packaging is fairly plain looking but I enjoy using the product. I would say it’s a light coverage. I’m not really used to liquid concealers so it’s taking me a while to work out how to use it.

I find if I dab it on in specks and then blend with fingers, this works quite well. If you own a concealer brush, that would work well too.

I don’t think I will be repurchasing, mainly because it’s such a light coverage as well as the fact it’s over £10. It has made me curious to try other products as it’s a very well made product.

(I bought this product at the Danby health shop, North York Moors)
