GracieGoesGreen Reusable Make Up Remover Pads

Today I’m going to be reviewing these washable make-up remover pads I have been using the last couple of months. I went with GracieGoesGreen eBay seller, and have nothing but good things to say about the quality of product and service. I paid £5.25 for seven organic cotton pads and they have varied patterns on the reverse. Along with this came a handy bag to put the pads in during the wash.

I had a good look on eBay for the best options. There was surprisingly an excellent choice, with varying prices, designs and so on. GracieGoesGreen seemed like the best though, and I thought the price was very reasonable. Postage was free.

I was a little nervous about my first eco-friendly purchase though, I didn’t know what to expect. The fabric is lovely and soft, and the pads are generously sized. After months of using them, I found a little staining was left, but they are perfectly clean after being put in the wash.

It took me a while to get into a routine of putting them in the wash for example my Mum would put them in with certain things etc. I haven’t been using mascara in lockdown, I think I’ll have one or two pads saved for that. If you want to be kinder to the environment, I would recommend these! The link to buy is here.

Have you made any eco-friendly purchases recently?
Would you be curious to give these a try yourself? :-) Xx

Original Source Shower Milks

Welcome back. Today I wanted to share my thoughts on the Original Source shower milks. I have the cherry and almond milk as well as the lime and coconut milk. Original Source is one of my favourite brands for shower gels. Since a teen I’ve been using their lime and also lemon variety on and off for years. I’ve been wanting to test out the shower milks for a while, the new formula and scents intrigued me as well as seeing the pretty pastel bottles on the blogosphere.

So what did I think? They lathered well, were nourishing and gentle on the skin and the formula wasn’t too runny, it was actually quite thick. The packaging makes it easy to use in the shower too. The cherry and almond fragrance took me by surprise, it reminded me a little of playdough so I wasn’t sure. The lime and coconut was the winner for me, and was similar to the old lime scent but the products didn’t quite par up to the first range.

I would recommend the mango, lime or lemon scent the most but a new one has popped up called rhubarb and raspberry which sounds promising. I had a browse on Superdrug today and they have slightly changed the packaging mainly the shape but also the general design. I have to say they are not as pretty to look at as the first branding sadly but they are on offer for £1.00 each if you want to grab a bargain. For those of you who do not know this brand is vegan and can be bought at most chemists and supermarkets. Buy here.

Have you tried these before?
Did we have similar thoughts? :-) Xx

Superdrug Tropical Fruits Beauty Haul

Last month I purchased a few bits on the Superdrug website, mainly essentials that I was short of so I thought it might make a good blog post. I’d been hanging onto my Poundland mascara for a while, just never getting around to buying a new one. I was hoping to find a cruelty-free option at Superdrug so I did a fair bit of research into it. I choose a Barry M one at such a reasonable price, I’ll let you know about it further in a review post soon.

I was also low on shower gel, I absolutely love the cruelty-free Superdrug Treat Me brand for this, and I’m working my way slowly through the different scents available. On this occasion I went for mango and coconut, it has a beautiful fruity, fresh scent and lathers well. I purchased a new shampoo and conditioner too, the Superdrug Extracts range is affordable and cruelty-free. I haven’t yet tested this grapefruit and papaya one yet but I had a sneaky smell and it’s gorgeous.

Lastly I treated myself to a body spray, the sweet mandarin and wild plum seemed promising and the packaging is adorable. It’s also cruelty-free and there will be a review shortly. There seemed to be fruity theme to this haul, I suppose I gravitate towards those kind of scents. I’m hoping the sun will return like in May when I photographed this haul in the garden!

I hope you enjoyed this post!
What kind of scents in beauty products do you go for? :-) Xx

Co-op Coconut & Honey Hair Products

Today I wanted to share a review of a shampoo and conditioner I’ve been trialling. I’ve been looking into supermarket own brands and I recently bought some products by the Co-op. It’s lovely to see that Co-op’s offering is both inexpensive and cruelty-free. I spent £1.09 for each 300ml bottle which seems really great value. The products have the leaping bunny logo as well as the V no animal ingredients logo. The packaging is simple yet striking with the graphics and is also recyclable. I can imagine most people enjoying the very pleasant, refreshing scent of coconut and honey.

Now onto the details of how the actual product rated. The shampoo was my favourite scent out of the two, and the consistency was just right and lathered well. It made my hair manageable in the shower and later left my hair squeaky clean and shiny. The conditioner was lovely too, and again made my hair manageable and in good condition. The coconut and honey fragrance lingered on afterwards. A little product went along way with both.

Overall these items were a success, and I enjoyed giving them a go. The Co-op have some other haircare choices in their line so I think they are worth a look into. If you are just getting into cruelty-free, these could be a good way to start.

Have you tried supermarket own brand beauty/toiletry products before?
What’s your current favourite shampoo and conditioner? :-) Xx

Daily Routine Beauty Products Haul

Hello! I hope my lovely readers are well, today I’m back with a beauty/toiletries haul. I did some shopping on the Superdrug website as well as popping into my local Co-op. I don’t normally visit the Co-op in our next village but I was after some foodie bits for my Brother’s birthday, and decided to browse the toiletries section while I was there. Through word of mouth, I knew that their own brand was cruelty-free so I was curious to see how they compared to places like Superdrug. Sadly with Superdrug online, they have changed their postage policy, and you now have to spend £10 or more as a beauty card holder to get free delivery which disappointed me.

I was in need of a new shampoo and conditioner, the Co-op’s own brand has some great options at reasonable prices. They had a few other bits like face wipes, shower gels, etc. which I might have another look at next time I pop in. Original Source is one of my favourite shower gel brands but I had never previously tried the coconut one, so we will see how I find this. My online order with Superdrug was mainly Mother’s Day gifts but with a few bits for myself. I repurchased my favourite E.l.f concealer and treated myself to a day cream by Superdrug Vitamin E. A few reviews will be coming up shortly.

Co-op Purchases
Co-op Coconut and Honey Shampoo £1.09
Co-op Coconut and Honey Conditioner £1.09
Original Source Coconut and Shea Butter Shower Gel £1.00

Superdrug Purchases
Superdrug Vitamin E Moisturising Day Cream with SPF 15 £2.99
E.l.f Beautifully Bare Lightweight Concealer Stick (Fair/Light) £5.00

The Library of Fragrance Paperback Eau de Toilette

Hi all, it’s so lovely to be back after taking a little break. Today I’m reviewing a fragrance which I bought recently, and just had to tell you all about it. I introduced myself to The Library of Fragrance brand over the summer, with my first purchase from them, with the scent ‘Sunshine’. At the beginning of autumn, I’d ran out and was eager to try something else by them. They had such a great collection of different singular scents, with cute names, I was stuck for choice. I eventually settled on ‘Paperback’ as it seemed to go with my love of reading and there were many positive reviews.

With buying online, I had to wait until my purchase arrived before I could see if the fragrance was for me. I sprayed some onto my wrists, and as it warmed to my skin for a few minutes, I began to fall in love, it’s such a unique, unforgettable scent. I think seasonally this is a perfect buy, either as a gift or for yourself and great for book lovers. Cruelty-free and vegan, £15.00 for a 30ml Eau de Toilette. Click here to buy online.

Read this to get a feel of the scent…. “The Library of Fragrance ‘Paperback’ Cologne celebrates our love affair with literature, with a backdrop of milky-vanilla sweetness, joined by delicate woody facets and just a touch of must and dust. It smells just like your favourite second hand bookshop.”

Does this brand interest you too?
What’s your go-to autumn/winter perfume? :-) Xx

A Beauty Haul: Products for Autumn into Winter

Just recently, I did an online shopping haul with Boots collect+ and Superdrug for a mixture of essential and luxury items. At the beginning of autumn, I was just about finished with my previous perfume by Library of Fragrance. I was delighted with the brand so I thought I would try another fragrance from them. The ‘Paperback’ scent really drew me in, it sounded perfect for autumn/winter and I liked the book association as I’ve found over these months, I do more cosy reading with a blanket and hot chocolate. It seemed like a fun thing, to buy the perfume, and the reviews I read were very positive.

Next is my second ever purchase from Kind Natured at Boots, I’ve been interested in this natural brand lately, and had my eye on the jam doughnut shampoo, which was a very much needed toiletry, as my last shampoo ran out. The next two items I ordered from Superdrug, and each having the leaping bunny logo for being cruelty-free. Flutter is a beautiful brand by Superdrug, they have fun packaging, budget friendly prices and would make good Christmas gifting. These soap flowers were a little treat, and I can’t wait to indulge in a bath of flower petals.

Lastly I picked up a shower gel, by Superdrug Spaa, I’m not going to do a separate review post for this, and instead I’ll give you a quick summary now. I really rate the brand, I was first drawn to the marble packaging, and reasonable price point. They have a large range, so I might go back for more, as I loved the shower gel, particularly for the spa like scent.

I’ll be doing a few follow up review posts soon...
Let me know which products from this haul caught your eye! :-) Xx

A Beauty Haul: Products for Summer

It feels truly like summer now, with the amazing weather we’ve been having, therefore I wanted to share lots of season appropriate products that I have been buying. I recently had just over £20 on my Boots advantage card which I spent. For those who don’t already know you can collect four points for every £1 you spend, with one point equal to one penny. I had a good look on Boots online to find some ethical/natural beauty products. I’ve been wanting to try the Kind Natured brand for a while, so I can’t wait to use their tutti frutti hair detangling spray.

I just finished a perfume bottle, and was looking for something for the summer months, I normally gravitate towards Escada, but I spotted ‘Sunshine’ by The Library Of Fragrance and was instantly drawn to it. It’s also cruelty-free making it a win win. To fill my basket up, I bought two additional items, I love the Boots Extracts brand which include fairtrade ingredients and was curious to see if their body sprays were any good, I picked the mango one. Lastly I chose an Original Source shower gel in mango, a super affordable brand and also vegan friendly.

Full reviews to come!

Danby Health Shop – Review of products available

The Danby health shop is based in the North York Moors, England. I go there once a year on holiday to a cottage nearby. The shop keepers who work there are really lovely, always happy to help and have time to chat.

The shop stocks mainly food goods. We order a fantastic fruit and veg box from them. They also stock a very large range of different kinds of chocolate.

I thought I would do a review of their beauty and bath products available. They have just recently started stocking Lavera products, which are aimed to suit people with sensitive skin.

A lot of the products are quite specialised, which is great it you are looking for something really specific. They offer shampoos for a range of hair types and the same with skin care products etc.

The only thing I would say is I would love for them to stock a few more general beauty products. I do not really have specific skin or hair requirements but love to pamper.

They often have free samples and little bits to buy if you’re looking for gifts. They products are very luxurious, and also at full size cost a little more. I enjoyed visiting the shop and treated myself to a few bits as I was on my holiday.
