The Snack Diaries | Part Twenty

Asda Extra Special Peruvian Dark Chocolate
(From Asda, £1.40 for 100g)
My Mum bought this as everyday chocolate to share, as it was surprisingly inexpensive. I decided to review it after seeing the gorgeous packaging. The chocolate tasted lovely but wasn’t overly memorable compared to other brands.

Chicken and Mushroom Pot Noodle
(From Asda, £0.60 for 90g)
I haven’t had a pot noodle in ages but my Mum bought a few for a holiday earlier in the year. I was pleasantly surprised to find I really enjoyed mine. They are quite filling, and make a nice treat for once in a while.

Diablo Chocolate Cream Vanilla Cakes
(From Heron Foods, price unknown for three cakes)
My brother bought these no added sugar cakes for me, and they were another pleasant surprise. The cakes were lovely and moist, with an authentic sweet taste.

Diablo Cream Filled Milk Chocolate Wafers
(From Heron Foods, sold individually but bought in bulk cheaply)
Probably my favourite out of the bunch. They tasted a bit like a KitKat, and found them moreish particularly after being stored cold in the fridge. Great if you are trying to cut back on sugar.

What have you been snacking on lately?
Do you have any foodie recommendations for me? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Nineteen

Ten Acre Crisps The Story Of When The Cheese Met The Onion
(From Holland&Barrett, £0.89 for 40g)
With the current lockdown my Mum placed an online order at Holland&Barrett for a few foodie bits. These were the first item that I tried, and I was pleasantly surprised, they were really delicious. They are vegan, but the cheese and onion taste is amazing. Even if you’re not vegan, give these a go!!

Lentil Bites Tomato & Herb
(From Holland&Barrett, £0.85 for 20g)
These were my least favourite from the H&B haul yet they were still pretty good. I wouldn’t pass on having them again, if I saw them on offer or something. The tomato and herb taste comes through nicely, and the crisps are pleasantly, crunchy.

Eat Real Veggie Straws
(From Holland&Barrett, £1.89 for 113g)
Another wonderful surprise, they are actually super moreish and delicious. Without a doubt I will be repurchasing these. They came in a bigger value pack, if you are a family that might be a plus. Another vegan item.

Green & Black’s 85% Cocoa Dark Chocolate
(From Morrison’s, £2.00 for unknown quantity)
I bought this to share over Easter with my family. It’s one of my Mum’s favourite dark chocolate brands so it was a bit of a treat for us. I’ve been more into dark chocolate lately, I enjoy the taste, and it has less sugar. A firm favourite but not quite as good as the Lindt alternative.

Do you have any snack recommendations for me?
Did any of these foodie reviews interest you? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Eighteen

Sainsbury's Bedtime Infusion Herbal Tea
(From Sainsbury’s, £1.25 for 20 teabags)
This is one of my favourite herbal teas I’ve tried in a good while. I love the blend of flavours, including camomile, lemon balm, lavender, etc. It’s so calming therefore perfect for bed time. The packaging is absolutely stunning, and on top of that the price is a bargain for what you get.

Morrison's Red Berry Blush Fruit Tea
(From Morrisons, £1.12 for 20 teabags)
As I received this tea as a gift, I was willing to give it a go even though I’m not as keen on berry flavours. The cranberry really comes through making it seasonally appropriate and actually I found myself enjoying this brand. One of my favourite berry teas I’ve tried.

M&S Sweet and Salty Popcorn
(From M&S, price and quantity unknown)
These two snacks were, kindly gifted to us as a family, so we all had a portion each. The popcorn tasted delicious, and just like how you get it at the cinema. I did limit my share, as I have been with other sweet treats but can see this product being popular with anyone who likes sweet and salty popcorn.

M&S Cheese Tasters Crisps
(From M&S, price and quantity unknown)
These are imitating Wotsits crisps which were a favourite of mine as a child. These weren’t quite as nice as the official Wotsits brand but my brother very much enjoyed finishing them off. The M&S packaging overall is great too.

Would you be interested to try any of these?
Which supermarket do you get most of your snacks/teas from? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Seventeen

Twinings Sleep Herbal Tea
(From Morrisons, £2.00 for 20 teabags)
This was one of my favourite teas I’ve had in a while. The flavour is spiced apple, vanilla with camomile and passionflowers. It gives me serious autumnal vibes, and I can see myself repurchasing which I don’t often do.

Co-op Apple & Blueberry Fruit Infusion Tea
(From Co-op, £0.99 for 20 teabags)
This is one of my Nan’s favourite fruit teas; it has an authentic berry taste, although personally I find it a bit sharp for my palate. Co-op teas are really affordable though, and they have a good selection.

Kallo Lightly Salted Corn Cakes
(From unknown, unknown price for 130g)
These were a bit of an experiment as I’d tried corn cakes a long time ago and wasn’t keen on them. I mostly had them with a bit of peanut butter which was quite nice. They were acceptable enough but not worth repurchasing.

Nakd Cocoa Orange Snack Bar
(From unknown, unknown price for 35g)
I think this brand has a lot going for it, and I can see why their products are popular. The cocoa orange variety was lovely although out of all the flavours it’s not my favourite.

Have you tried any of these before?
Do you have any autumnal herbal tea recommendations for me? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Sixteen

Morrison’s Best Seeded Cheese Bites
(From Morrisons, £1.50 for 75g)
I stumbled across these in the Morrison’s savoury snack isle and was super intrigued. They turned out to be one of my favourite snacks since doing this series! They were so delicious and the authentic cheese taste is superb. I could have eaten these in one go, but enjoyed the experience of having a few a day with family.

Moser Roth Dark Chocolate
(From Aldi, price unknown for 125g)
I was gifted this chocolate at Easter, and have been sparingly enjoying a piece here and there. This dark chocolate is not bitter at all and the cocoa really came though. If you are after some dark chocolate, I recommend this brand.

Tesco No Added Sugar Hazelnut Chocolate Spread
(From Tesco, £1.50 for 400g)
This product is a great option if you are making conscious steps to consume less sugar or generally eat healthier. It works well as a topping for a cake or general spread. The authentic hazelnut taste is lovely, although the spread is not very thick/whipped.

Twining’s Chocolate Coconut Green Tea
(From Morrisons, £2.00 for 20 tea bags)
After absolutely loving their lemon drizzle variety, I experimented with the chocolate coconut in hope it would be just as nice. It was interesting to try it, but I didn’t think it was one of my favourites.

Which of these snacks interest you most?
Do you have any foodie recommendations for me? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Fifteen

Go Ahead! Goodness Coconut Bars
(From Poundland, £1.00 for four bars)
These had a lovely taste, and the coconut really came through. They weren’t anything overly exciting though. Maybe great for everyday to put in your lunch box or to recharge after a workout.

Pulsin Raw Choc Brownies
(From Fultons Foods, price unknown for three bars)
These were seriously yummy, and moreish! If I’m going to treat myself to something sweet, these would be it. I rarely repurchase, but I’m thinking about it with these. I also want to point out - how eye-catching is the packaging?!

Morrison’s Best Tropical Tea
(From Morrisons, £2.80 for fifteen tea bags)
I treated myself to these on my birthday, as it looked like it might be something quite special. The product is part of the premium Morrison’s range, and the packaging is really eye-catching. Sadly I didn’t think it was worth it for the price. While the flavour was quite pleasant, the teabags were too weakly concentrated for me.

Thornton’s Classic Collection Chocolates
(From unknown, unknown price and quantity)
I was gifted this a good while back before I was watching my sugar intake. Thornton’s is a very reliable brand for chocolate, and you can pick up boxes cheaply in lots of mainstream shops now. Great for gifting/sharing.

What kind of snacks do you like to eat?
Do you have any fruit/herbal tea recommendations? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Fourteen

Twinings Lemon Drizzle Green Tea
(From Morrison’s, £2.00 for twenty tea bags)
I was pleasantly surprised by this tea, it had a very authentic lemon drizzle taste and was quite moreish to drink. I’ve already tried the cherry bakewell green tea, but out of the two this one is my favourite.

Twinings Earl Grey Decaffeinated Tea
(From Morrison’s, £2.00 for fifty tea bags)
I’ve had earl grey tea a fair few times now, and it’s one of my go-to drinks while at cafes. I have to say the Twinning variety is superb, and although I rarely repurchase the same tea twice, I can see myself doing so when these are on offer.

Gullon Sugar Free Choc Chip Cookies
(From Iceland, £1.20 for 150g)
My Mum kindly found this brand of biscuits for me, as I’ve been cutting down sugar in my diet. Gullon do all sorts of varieties of biscuits, and although I hadn’t heard of them previously they are now stocked in lots of supermarkets. These choc chip cookies were excellent and I couldn’t taste the difference. If you took away the packaging, it's not obvious they are a health conscious brand.

Gullon Sugar Free Dark Choc Digestive Biscuits
(From Iceland, £1.20 for 270g)
Following on from the previous review, these ones are a digestive with dark chocolate flavouring covering the top. I was dubious these were going to be any good, but wow, they are delicious and so moreish!

What tea brands do you like?
Would you consider trying anything from this post? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Thirteen

Pukka Blackcurrant Beauty Fruit Tea
(From Co-op, £2.00 for twenty tea bags)
I’d been wanting to try this specific tea for ages, and I picked it up after seeing it reduced in the Co-op. I wasn’t disappointed, the taste was very authentic and probably my favourite blackcurrant tea I’ve tried.

Co-op Rhubarb & Vanilla Infusion Fruit Tea
(From Co-op, £0.99 for twenty tea bags)
I often gravitate towards supermarket own brands for tea among other things. Own brand teas are always affordable and this particular product is one of my favourites. The combination of rhubarb, and the sweetness of the vanilla is perfect. I can see myself repurchasing which I don’t often do.

Aldi Pantry Carrot Cake Mix
(From Aldi, price and weight unknown)
I found this cake mix very reliable to use, as it rises well in the oven, and the carrot taste is amazing. I managed to get twelve buns and a small loaf which seems an ideal portion. The cakes were scrumptious fresh from the oven!

Harvest Moon Yogurt & Fruit Bars
(From Aldi, unknown price for six portions)
I went through a period of trying lots of healthier breakfast type bars, these ones appealed to me because of the yogurt coating however they came across a little dry unfortunately. They were rather average really.

Do you buy supermarket own brand food products?
Do you have any snack recommendations for me? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Twelve

Nine Peanut Seed Bars
(From TKMaxx, £1.89 for four bars.)
I really enjoyed these, they had a nice taste and texture as well as being pretty healthy. I’ve tried out the brand before and have nothing but good things to say about them. Perfect to pop in your bag on the go!

Ten Acre Cappuccino Popcorn
(From Holland&Barrett, £0.89 for 28g)
I was super intrigued to try these because of the cappuccino flavour and cute packaging. The flavour was authentic and made a change from regular popcorn although they were a little too sweet for me personally.

Emily Mixed Roots Vegetable Crisps
(From TKMaxx, £1.30 for 23g)
Wow I have such positive praise for these, they tasted so good! I wasn’t sure if I was going to like them but I did. We shared them out over two days on a salad and they were a real treat. I adore the packaging too!

Heartsease Farm Traditional Lemonade
(From WHSmith’s, price unknown, quantity known)
This was my least favourite from the four. I was at the train station newsagent and the water was so overpriced. This lemonade was better value so I thought I would give it a shot. The taste was too strong, and overly sugary sweet.

Have you tried any of these brands?
Do you like your snacks sweet or healthy? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Eleven

Pukka Chamomile, Vanilla & Manuka Honey Tea
(From unknown, price unknown, 20 tea bags)
Pukka can be a little hit and miss for me with flavours but their elderberry & echinacea is one of my all-time favourite teas. Weirdly I’d never previously tried this chamomile variety but my brother kindly gifted me it and I absolutely love it, particularly with the added vanilla and honey for extra sweetness.

Morrison’s The Best Rum & Raisin Dark Chocolate
(From Morrison’s, price £1.34 for 100g)
I loved the sound of this flavour so I treated myself a bar on my birthday. I bought my Dad the cappuccino flavour and we shared it out, it was seriously the nicest chocolate ever but the rum and raisin wasn’t quite as tasty. If you like dark chocolate you might be a fan, and Morrison’s The Best have a large chocolate range if you are interested.

Thornton’s Caramel Crunch Biscuits
(From unknown, price and quantity unknown)
My brother kindly gifted me these on my birthday, they were very sweet and indulgent but I enjoyed sharing them out with my family. They came in a small box, great for trialling them out or sharing them with a friend over coffee.

Galaxy Smooth Milk Chocolate Spread
(From unknown, price and quantity unknown)
I used this spread for baking and made double chocolate butterfly cakes, if you are looking for something for this purpose, I recommend the galaxy brand. Another indulgent item, which is probably best to share out with others.

Do you like to drink specialist tea too?
What kind of thing do you snack on normally with a cuppa? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Ten

Cachet Organic Milk Chocolate
(From Aldi, price unknown, 100g)
This chocolate was kindly gifted to me, and I was really pleased to receive it. The pattern and colours on the packaging are really eye-catching. The chocolate had a milky, creamy and satisfying taste, I recommend you try it!

Malteasers Teasers Chocolate Spread
(From Heron Foods, price unknown, 200g)
This was a luxurious treat, particularly with a bit spread on toast. The malty crunchy pieces made it for me. I couldn’t see myself buying it again because of the calories, but as I was gifted it, it was nice to try it.

Heath & Heather Organic Raspberry Leaf Tea
(From Aldi, price unknown, 20 teabags)
The design on the front of the box is gorgeous, it has a bit of an autumnal vibe and would be a good option for gifting. The raspberry flavour was lovely and sweet but a little weak per teabag. It would make a great everyday tea.

Options Belgian Chocolate for Drinking
(From Heron Foods, price and quantity unknown)
This is one of my favourite brands for hot chocolate because each cup is so delicious at only 40 calories. I do love their mint variety too. Definitely worth a try if you see it in store.

Which of these would you like to try the most?
Do you have any foodie recommendations for me? :-) Xx

The Snack Diaries | Part Nine

M&S Calming Lavender, Limeflower & Camomile Tea
(From M&S, £2.00 for 25 teabags)
I was very excited to try this and the other tea featured, the flavours sounded unusual and I was drawn to the beautiful packaging. You seem to get a lot for your money too. This one was more of an experiment, but out of the two I enjoyed it the most. The taste was really hard to put a finger on – but I loved it!

M&S Bursting Blueberry, Pomegranate & Acai Berry Tea
(From M&S, £2.00 for 25 teabags)
The name on this appears super fancy but really it’s just like an everyday berry tea, it was nice though! My Mum seemed to like it however the other one I bought was my favourite.

Fox’s Fruit & Seeds Granola Cookies
(From Heron Foods, price unknown, 5 per box)
I was gifted these biscuits and was really pleased with them. They had a lovely, earthy taste and were chewy on the outside, soft in the middle. These were my favourite of the two.

Fox’s Honey & Ginger Granola Cookies
(From Heron Foods, price unknown, 5 per box)
The ginger flavour was way too prominent in these which wasn’t really my cup of tea. I still liked the texture of the biscuit and the small snack sized boxes were great for experimenting with.

Do you enjoy fruit/herbal tea too?
What brand of biscuits do you favour? :-) Xx
