Birthday Present Haul 2020

Hope my readers are doing well. It was my birthday recently, and I got some lovely things from my family which I was grateful for. I ordered some bits beforehand as well such as books and CDs. I received some beautiful cards which were special to me. My favourite gift item were the books, as I look forward to having new reading material.

My Mum bought me a beautiful beret, in a purple colour which I have already started wearing. My brother got me some toiletries including a soap scrub which I haven’t tried yet. My Dad got me a game which I have played before, it’s called the yes and no game. I hope you enjoyed this post. My birthday was fairly quiet, but nice, and it gave me some new things to keep me busy during the lockdown.

Have I given you any gift inspiration? Do we have similar taste in something? :-) Xx

October Used Book Haul

I’ve been doing some secondhand book collecting from a variety of places including a café on my holls with a book corner to raise money for charity, and my local free bookshop which sadly has now closed which makes me sad. Jane Blonde and The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole were purchased for approx £1 each going towards charity and all the others are from the free bookshop.

Just for a little update because the free bookshop closed down, my Mum and I have started visiting our local library van and the book selection is pretty good plus you can order in books too. Out of this book haul I’ve already read the Jane Costello book and Laughter Lines by Des O’Connor, I won’t reveal too much because a review will be on its way.

Have you heard of any of these books?
Are there any that you want to pick up? :-) Xx

Titles I picked up:

Jane Blonde by Jill Marshall
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13¾ by Sue Townsend
Spectacles Autobiography by Sue Perkins
Here Come the Girls by Milly Johnson
Summer Nights at the Moonlight Hotel by Jane Costello
Laughter Lines by Des O’Connor

August Used Book Haul

Thanks for joining me for a new blog post, today I’m back with my mid-summer book haul. The theme for this one seems to be beach reads, and so far already I’ve read a few that would fit into this category over the summer months. Also I began a Maeve Binchy book a few weeks back and unfortunately it just didn’t resonate with me, it was not what I was expecting, and I got the impression the authors audience was much older than me. Despite this I was pleased with the other titles I found. How to Walk in High Heels: The Girl’s Guide to Everything has been on radar for years, it’s definitely not a new release but I’m excited to dip into this one, and its non-fiction too which interests me.

So far this year I’ve read two more Jane Costello books, and I only have a couple from the author I haven’t read now including this title The Love Shack so it might be a good one for Valentine’s 2019. The Little Kiosk By The Sea appears to be the ultimate beach read, and hopefully I’ll have time to pick it up this summer. Lastly Always Dakota by Debbie Macomber struck me as an escapist read which looked like it might be fun. Again all these books are secondhand!

Titles I picked up:

How to Walk in High Heels: The Girl's Guide to Everything by Camilla Morton
The Little Kiosk By The Sea by Jennifer Bohnet
The Love Shack by Jane Costello
Always Dakota by Debbie Macomber
Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy
A Few of the Girls by Maeve Binchy

Have you read any beach style reads this summer? If so which one? :-) xx

July Used Book Haul

Hi – Today I’ve got another book haul, I wanted to share my latest secondhand purchases from The British Heart Foundation, a local church fair as well as my local used book shop. The British Heart Foundation is one of my favourite charity shops for book shopping, they seem to stock some great reads. I picked up three for one pound each and was pleased with my bargains. My Grandma and I visited a church fair, we had fun looking at the used book stall, and I picked up two interesting titles. Lastly I acquired a book from my local used book shop. On a side note I love all the vibrant colours on the covers!

Titles I picked up:

Hygge and Kisses by Clara Christensen
A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff
The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan
The Year I Met You by Cecelia Ahern
A Christmas to Remember by Katie Flynn
The Muse by Jessie Burton

Let me know what you are currently reading!
Do you ever go charity shop book browsing? :-) Xx

My Latest Used Book Haul

Today I’m back with another book haul. I picked up this collection from a church library, a coffee shop selling books for charity and lastly a free community book shop all located near where I live. I got each from a variety of places but they are all secondhand. I think if you are looking for a cheap hobby, reading is a really good thing to pursue. I’ve already read two of the books in this haul, one was a 5/5 and one was a 4/5 stars. I do reviews of my recent reads so look out for those coming up.

Are you interested in reading?
Do you buy secondhand too? :-) Xx

Titles I picked up:

The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well by Meik Wiking
The Last Dance and Other Stories by Victoria Hislop
The Silk Weaver by Liz Trenow
Forgotten by Susan Lewis
The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton

Charity Shop & Used Book Haul

Hello – today I’m coming to you with a book haul, I have a few of these stocked up so this will be a first of many. I get most of my books from a free community book centre in my local area but I mix that up with secondhand finds in charity shops. Today is a mixture of the two. I recently decluttered and rethought about some books that weren’t really for me. I like to try new kinds of books but sometimes I get it wrong – the good thing being I haven’t spent a lot of money.

Anyway because I’ve had these books from this haul a while now, I’ve finished a few and also donated back one or two that weren’t my thing. I won’t reveal too many spoilers though, so keep tuned for a review post (and more hauls!). Hope you enjoy viewing my haul, let me know what you’ve been reading lately...

Titles I picked up:

A Summer at Sea by Katie Fforde
I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend by Cora Harrison
There's Something about Christmas by Debbie Macomber
The Potion Diaries by Amy Alward
Entangled by Cat Clarke
Lie With Me by Sabine Durrant

Barnardo’s Charity Shop Book Haul

Welcome – it’s been a little while since I last posted, hope you are all well. I have a few book hauls which I’m hoping to catch up with on my blog. This particular book haul was from Barnardo’s charity shop while we were visiting a relative nearby. I’d popped into this particular branch a couple of times, the last few times I went in they started stocking books and there selection was pretty good.

My favourite find from this haul was Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? And other concerns by Mindy Kaling, and it looked like it had never been read too. I’ve already finished this book and loved it so my further thoughts will be posted in a review soon. I picked up The Snow Globe by Sheila Roberts, another brand new looking book. I finished this before Christmas, it’s a snappy light hearted read to curl up by the fire with.

The last two books I decided not to keep as I realised after purchase that they had triggering themes to them. I’m sure someone else can enjoy them more than me so I donated them back to charity. I spent £2.00 on four books, 50p per book seemed pretty good.

My Book Purchases:
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? And other concerns by Mindy Kaling
The Snow Globe by Sheila Roberts
Solitaire by Alice Oseman
All the Birds, Singing by Evie Wyld

Do you ever buy secondhand books?
Let me know what charity shops or otherwise you visit! :-) Xx
